Anabel Gil Díaz

Anabel Gil Díaz is a piano, flute, voice, clarinet and ukulele instructor. She is a Cuban-Spanish multi-instrumentalist, film and video game music composer, producer and educator passionate about fostering talent and creating memorable learning experiences. Her years of teaching experience range from teaching music and movement for babies in English and Spanish, to jazz, classical music, piano technique and woodwind instruments to students from 3 years old to adults who are curious to learn or reconnect with the music. She believes in fostering a talented and supportive environment where students can thrive and discover their musical potential. Diaz has directed and produced various musical projects, instilling the love of music and performance in young hearts and especially those who are just beginning to learn an instrument since in her philosophy learning music with motivation from a good teacher is essential for learning to love it.

During her time in the United States, she has earned two consecutive Full-Ride scholarships, one to attend Berklee College of Music, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Jazz and Film and Video Games Scoring; and her second to complete her Master's studies at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. In 2023, Anabel Gil Diaz participated in the recording of the album titled “New Jazz Standards Vol. 1” by Terri-Lyne Carrington, winner of a Grammy Award. She is currently Principal Flautist of the Du Bois Symphony Orchestra, Guest Flautist Soloist of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra and Landmarks Orchestra, Flautist of Imagine Orchestra for Jazz Urbane Company, Session Flautist for the Harvard Composers Association and Berklee College's SSP. In her role as a teacher at Chicago Jazz Phil Jazz Camp and the Vermont Jazz Festival, she coaches students to maximize their creative power and develop stage confidence throughout the process, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where students can thrive and shine on stage. With her infectious enthusiasm and genuine concern for the well-being of her students, Anabel creates a nurturing and supportive learning environment where every lesson becomes a healing experience.
