Part-time position available at John Payne Music Center in Brookline Village, steps from Pierce school. A few hours per week, teach small groups of 3- to 5-year-olds to read music and make music (yes, READ music!) following an innovative, fun-filled, nationally known program: Music FunTime. Give children an early boost into the joy of music-making, and put yourself on the ground floor of a music teaching revolution! We offer a supportive, casual environment, with extensive training provided.
We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic about working with young kids (ages 3 to 6), and has experience either teaching or raising children. (Formal teaching experience is NOT required.)
You should be able to sing children’s songs with accurate pitch and confidence.
The ability to play piano at an elementary level is preferred, but you can easily learn it one step ahead of the kids if necessary. If you’re more advanced on piano, there may be some opportunities for you to give piano lessons as well.
You should be comfortable following a step-by-step, set curriculum, be organized and meticulous with numerous materials, and also able to bring your own creativity, ideas and personality to the program.
Please be available to teach Saturday and/or Sunday mornings, and possibly weekday(s) as we expand.
Please send your resume to Trish at firstname.lastname@example.org, with “MFT Teacher” in the subject line.
